A German firm is sending a technical working group to the first district of Negros Occidental to look for a 1,000-hectare site for a solar farm targeted to generate 700 megawatts of power, Marton Cui, executive assistant for political affairs of Rep. Julio Ledesma IV, said yesterday.
Thomas Deeg, chief operating officer of Buskowitz Development Inc. and Cristina Vardeleon, recently met with mayors Melecio Yap Jr. of Escalante City and Araceli Somosa of Calatrava, Councilor Christopher Paul Carmona, representing San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo Valmayor, and himself representing Ledesma, to discuss their solar plant plans, Cui said.
A Buskowitz technical working group is expected to arrive in the first district this week, he said.
Ramos files appeal
on ouster at CA

Bacolod City Water District director Marichi Ramos filed a notice of appeal before the Court of Appeals on the decision of the Regional Trial Court dated Dec. 1, 2014 ordering her ouster and denying her motion for reconsideration dated March 2.
The notice of appeal was filed by Roger Reyes, her legal counsel through the Regional Trial Court Branch 46.
Ramiro Garcia Jr. had filed a petition for quo warranto against Ramos on August 20 asking the Court to declare her not entitled to sit as member of the Baciwa Board representing the professional sector and ousting her from the position, and to declare him as the legal person entitled to hold and exercise the office of member of the Baciwa Board.

3 killed, 6 hurt in amok
incident on fishing boat

Three persons were killed and six critically wounded when a fisherman ran amok with a bladed weapon while a fishing vessel was leaving Sibulan town in Negros Oriental early yesterday morning.
The casualties included the leader of the group of Pescadores (fishermen), identified as “maestro’ Quirico Estoras of Sibulan, who sustained several stab wounds in his body; and a certain Benjie Jorheho.
The suspect, identified as Graciano Namoco, 39, of Sitio Catipon, Barangay Bonawon in Siaton town, Negros Oriental, was ganged up on and killed by the other pescadores.
