Members of the New Independent Workers Organization are seeking to abolish the new portal payroll scheme saying it is inutile for handling the payroll of employees.
Emmanuel Bandola, NIWO president, said at a press conference in Bacolod City yesterday, that the new online payroll is a form of labor oppression and a clear unfair labor practice that resulted in a flagrant violation of economic benefits or salaries.
All Coca-Cola employees are affected by the rampant and excessive payroll errors that accumulate unclaimed wages for every payroll without an assurance of pay-off on the next payday and thereafter, Bandola said.

ON SUGAR
BIR circular to address 1% tax
The Bureau of Internal Revenue is issuing a memorandum circular that will clarify some provisions of Revenue Regulation 11-2014 that imposes a one percent creditable withholding tax on raw sugar and molasses upon withdrawal from the mills, Ric Cabrera, BIR Region 12 chief legal counsel, said yesterday.
A lot of clarifications will be made. “Definitely, it would temper the opposition,” he said.
Small farmers, including agrarian reform beneficiaries, earlier staged a protest against the RR 11-2014 saying they do not earn enough to be covered by tax and the documentary requirements required by the BIR are difficult for them to comply with.

Bacolod SSS given

The Social Security System has achieved additional ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification of compliance for the registration and coverage processes of four of its branches, marking another milestone of its achievement in 2014, its press release said yesterday.
Eleonora Cinco, SSS Officer in Charge for Management Services and Planning Division, said the SSS offices composed of Bacolod, Butuan, La Union and Pasig-Shaw branches were awarded the internationally recognized certificate on Sept. 5, 2014.
The SSS now has five ISO-certified branches, the first of which was the SSS Diliman Branch that has successfully maintained its certification since 2011.
