VMA offering enhanced
support level program

VMA Global College and its training center are now accepting students who want to take a two to two-and-a-half-year, or four-year maritime education, like the bachelors of Science in Marine Transportation and Science in Marine Engineering, a press release from the school said.

BSMT degree holders may find work as deck cadet, mess man, 2nd/1st mate, and master mariner, while the BSME graduates can apply as engine cadet, 4th/3rd/2nd or chief engineer. For seasoned deck or engine officers, land-based managerial, technical, consultancy and trainor jobs are offered by shipping/manning companies, training centers and maritime schools, the press release also said.

Students with limited time and resources may opt to take the 2-year Enhanced Support Level Program for Marine Engineering, or Enhanced Support Level Program for Marine Deck. Certificate of completion issued are ratings forming part of engineering watch and ratings as able seafarer engine for ESLPME; and ratings forming part of a navigational watch and able seafarer deck for ESLPMD.

Graduates of ESLPMD can work as ordinary seaman, able bodied seaman, boatswain or any similar occupation in the deck department as rating; while those of ESLPME may occupy positions, such as wiper, oiler, motorman, fitter or any similar occupation in the engine department as rating, the press release also said.

The Commission on Higher Education said VMA’s delineation of its BSMT and BSME programs from its ESLP will keep the Philippines in the International Maritime Organization White List, and facilitate a center of excellence for maritime education and training both for ratings and officers, the press release added.*

Lasallians encouraged
to find passion

St. La Salle Awardee 2013, Ishwar Chugani, encouraged students of an International Marketing class of the University of St La Salle Bacolod, to find their passion in the business industry,during the Speakers’ Bureau series held at the Cody Conference Room B of USLS recently, a press release from the school said.

Chugani, managing director of Giordano Middle Chugani, and a member of the HS Class ’75 that is celebrating its 40th jubilee anniversary, urged the students to understand what interest them the most, as finding the right job and career path is like finding a needle in a haystack,” the press release said.

The Speakers’ Bureau was initiated by the USLS Alumni Relations Office, and aims to provide inspiration to young Lasallians through talks with successful alumni of the university, the press release added.*

‘Pari ‘Koy’ 1st episode
trending worldwide

GMA Network’s newest primetime drama series, “Pari ‘Koy”, starring newly-married actor Dindong Dantes, grabbed the attention of viewers and netizens as it premiered Monday night, a press release from the station said.

Dantes’ character name, Father Kokoy, was trending worldwide, as viewers and netizens welcomed the newest primetime series with open arms, and became very vocal on social networking sites, commending and expressing their all-out support for the program, the press release also said.

Netizen Ruth S. Carin posted, “I thought it was another overhyped too-good-to-be-true tv series but the pilot showed otherwise. It reminds me of a priest who once showed me the same kindness when I was a kid. Kudos GMA! Dingdong, I am now a fan”
