Five senior superintendents were recommended to replace Senior Supt. Pedrito Escarilla, who will retire today as Bacolod Police chief.
Chief Supt. Josephus Angan, police regional director for Western Visayas, who attended the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation preparation meeting in Bacolod yesterday, said they are waiting for the advice of Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella, about the next city police director.
Puentevella is in Japan for an unofficial travel and is expected to arrive on Friday.
In the meantime, Supt. Calixto Mabugat, deputy city director for administration, will act as officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office, Angan said.
The shortlist submitted to Puentevella includes Senior Superintendents Marlon Ganzon, Ren Darroca, Julius Lagiwid, Leo Irwin Agpangan, and Roderick Alba.
One of them will replace Escarilla, who turns 56 today, the compulsory age for retirement of Philippine National Police personnel.
Escarilla has served the BCPO as OIC for nine months, having assumed the post on June, 2014.
Meanwhile, the same set of nominees will be presented to Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., who will choose the next police provincial director for the province.
Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan will retire on April 19, 2015.
Marañon said he is not choosing yet who will replace Lirazan.
“Not yet, let him retire first. He might think we are in a hurry for him to leave,” the governor said.*SGG
