on Ombudsman ruling
BY CARLA GOMEZ
Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano said yesterday that by preventing the payment of the P16.8 million computerized revenue enhancement project of his predecessor he was able to save the town government from suffering damages.
Montelibano was reacting to the Ombudsman’s dismissal of a criminal case for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act he filed against former Murcia Mayor Esteban Coscolluela and Julieta Cunanan, president and chief executive officer of Systems and Plan Integrator Development Corp., in connection with the P16.8 million project.
The Murcia mayor in a press statement said that he has filed a Motion for Reconsideration to the Ombudsman’s ruling on Feb. 7, 2015.

IN DUMAGUETE
P1.5-M MRF installed
After one month, motorists wearing bonnets and masks in Dumaguete City will be apprehended and fined, under a proposed ordinance approved on second reading by the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its session Wednesday.
The ordinance sponsored by Councilor Franklin Esmena Jr. and co-sponsored by Councilor Antonio Remollo, prohibits the wearing of masks, bonnets and anything that conceal a person’s identity and providing for penalties.
The ordinance said police records show that criminals, such as killers, hold-uppers, robbers, snatchers and other forms of criminalities use bonnets and masks to cover their identities when they commit crimes.
