Ibe, Ballesteros teams
share lead in YBAC tilt

Teams of Bong Ibe and Jun Ballesteros shared the top spot in the standing with a pair of wins in the 2015 Your Basketball Athletic Club Inter-Color Tournament 2 nd Conference played at the STI-West Negros University gym, a press release from YBAC said.

Defending champion Team Ballesteros outclassed Edwin Fregil's squad, 71-65, in their recent match-up to fortify their 102-95 victory over lawyer Arnel Lapore's wards in the opener.

Rolly Buenaflor and Pao-Pao Lim delivered 16 points each to lead Ballesteros' offense as Abraham Magay added 6 points in the opening quarter, the press release said.

Livingstone Ang and Vincent Javelosa, meanwhile, had 6 points each to spearhead Team Fregil's first quarter dominance 17-13.

In the second quarter, a well-distributed offense by Ballesteros' side alongside its tough defense led by reigning MVP Joenel Anico gave the team a 13-6 blast for a 26-25 advantage at the break.

But, Badong Eufre poured 11 points in the third quarter to spearhead the 21-point output of Fregil's against Ballesteros' 17 points.

Another balanced offense by the Ballesteros team in the final quarter allowed them scored 28 points to spoil the 17 combined points by Eufre and Mario Reyes, the press release also said.

Magay backstopped Buenaflor and Lim with 8 points each as Ballesteros, Jojo Chua, Oscar Aquino, Randy Pudadera, Nathaniel Bacaron and Mawie Carreon delivered 4 points apiece. Art Memoria contributed 3 points.

Meanwhile, Eufre and Reyes led Fregil's team with 22 points each as Javelosa tallied 10 and Ang with 8 points.

In another match-up, Team Ibe team escaped Lapore's squad, 87-86, to book their second win following a 93-85 triumph over Fregil's in the first match, the press release added.

Mayo Salazar poured 15 points to lead Ibe's side as Emil Guanzon, Ernie Castillo and Jun-Jun Luciano delivered 11 points each while Narciso Galang and Marty Cadagat added 10 points each, Ibe and Eric Deloria had 6 points apiece, B. Reyes with 3 points, and newcomer Junjun Estellosa and Danny Chua with 2 points each.

For the Lapore team, Kokoy Pendon nailed 18 points to lead his team while Rudy Nonato and Adelino Aurino added 12 points each, Christopher Ong with 8, Amit Teruel and Jayson Olivar with 7 points apiece, YBAC president Pete Apura and Ritchie Yanson chipped in 6 points each, Cerilo Soquina with 5 markers, Raymart Pandanduyan with 3 points, and Alfredo Rosales with 2 points.*
