The Commission on Elections will pursue the holding of automated polls in 2016, Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said yesterday.
Guanzon said Comelec chairman Andres Bautista announced yesterday that the Comelec will continue with the automated election in May 2016.
The Comelec will conduct a public bidding for the diagnostics and refurbishment of the precinct count optical scan ( PCOS) machines, and the purchase of new machines, she quoted Bautista as saying.
The Comelec is eyeing the purchase of 100,000 new vote-counting machines for the 2016 elections, which will cost P14.5 billion.*CPG
