Police OIC holds
spot inspections
BY SHIELA GELERA

Senior Supt. Melchor Coronel, officer-in-charge of Bacolod Police, conducted surprise inspections on several police stations in Bacolod City this week, and said he noted that some policemen were not wearing uniforms at night.

So he required them to wear complete uniforms at all times, he said.

He also ordered the chiefs of police to maintain cleanliness in their police stations, to make it look pleasing to clients asking for help.

On Monday, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office OIC Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion was directed by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to put a stop to the proliferation of illegal drugs.

Nacion said he is not tolerating cops engaged in the sale or use of drugs, or with links to the proliferation of drugs.

At the Bacolod City Police Office, Coronel said he is also taking steps to cleanse their ranks of policemen engaging in illegal drugs by conducting random drug testing.

However, the results of the drug tests conducted on 26 policemen on April 27, this year, are still subject to confirmation at the Provincial Crime Laboratory.*SSG
