JSY Countertrade knocked down 20 triples to dominate Huminova Tigers, 89-66, while Royal Star Trading defeated Jast Enterprises, 82-68, as competition heats up in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 1 st Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Nine of the 20 triples were delivered in the second quarter as JSY Countertrade overhauled a 15-14 first quarter deficit for a commanding 49-25 halftime lead.
It was another shootfest for Countertrade in the third quarter as they added 5 more triples to put the game beyond reach for the Tigers at71-36 going to the fourth quarter.
Former La Salle Stinger Daniel Chiu connected on 6 triples to lead Countertrade with 20 points while Robbie Jalandoon and Mark Binguan scored all their points from the three-point arc to finish with 18 and 15 points, respectively. DK Equipaje shot 14, Leonard Kilayko had 7, and Aldrian Tan contributed 6 points to complete the rout.
RB Chua paced the Tigers with 13 points while Danny Boy Uy and Jan Jan Young picked up 11 points apiece.
Meanwhile, Royal Star held a 33-31 halftime lead as Jappy Cuaycong led a balanced offensive with 7 points as five of his teammates scored 4 or more while while Randell Uy tried to keep Jast in the game with 11 points as Luigi Coo backed him up with 9 markers.
Cuaycong continued to wax hot in the second half and fired 20 points as Royal Star slowly pulled away from Jast .
Cuaycong finished with 27 points while Ong and Sibug tallied 12 points each for Royal Star.
Uy led Jast Enterprises with 15 points and Coo finished the game with 14 points.*
