Livelihood aid
given in Santa Rosa

Residents of Brgy. Santa Rosa in Murcia dislocated by the establishment of the Negros First Ranch in the place, and received decent homes last year also got livelihood assistance yesterday from the provincial government and the 303rd Infantry Brigade.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Brig. Gen. Jon Aying, 303rd Infantry Brigade commanding general, led the distribution of P60,000 worth of piglets and a carabao to 11 families, in line with the Negros First Army Wellness Farm and Livestock dispersal program.

The provincial government also provided the relocated families with a chicken multiplier machine or incubator, for mass production of chicken and ducks.

Last year, each of the relocated families, some of whom joined the protest actions spearheaded by militant organizations who had opposed the establishment of the Negros First Ranch in Brgy. Santa Rosa, Murcia, availed of free housing unit, with electricity and water supply.

Aying called on the beneficiaries to take good care of the project as their own business. A similar project will also be undertaken in Brgy. Odiong, Moises Padilla, he added.

Marañon assured the beneficiaries that they will construct a school house for pre-school classes of children, emphasizing that education is the best solution to poverty. *GPB
