The Chamber of Real Estate and Builders' Association and the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association, Negros Occidental chapters, are asking the Regional Trial Court Branch 42 to deny the motion to dismiss filed by the Bacolod City government of against its petition for utter lack of merit.
The Bacolod City Government filed a motion to dismiss the civil case for the declaration of nullity of City Ordinance No. 08-14-700 with prayer for the issuance of temporary restraining order, filed by the CREBA and SHDA against it before RTC Branch 42, for being moot and academic ) after the decision of the Department of Justice came out declaring the city's tax code null and void.
The group also asked the court to issue an order directing the City of Bacolod to cease-and-desist from imposing Ordinance No. 08-14-700, or “An ordinance updating the schedule of Market Value of Real Properties in the city of Bacolod and other provisions relative to RPT Administration, that had already been declared null and void by the Department of Justice.


Solar power set to energize
140,000 households: ASOC
The proposed establishment of a 240 megawatt solar power plant in Bacolod City and Murcia town will energize about 140,000 households, Maria Cecilia Ramona Monfort, president of Negros PH Solar Inc. and Asian Solar Options Corporation, said yesterday.
Monfort had informed Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, earlier, that ASOC will invest in a 120 megawatt solar power plant in Barangay Vista Alegre, while Negros PH Solar Inc. will invest in a 200 megawatt power plant in Brgy. Handumanan.
She said they are processing their requests for endorsement and other requirements from the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod. They also plan to put up a solar plant in Murcia, she said, adding that they are glad that Gasataya is very cooperative with their project.


TFM pushes for CARP extension
Members of Task Force Mapalad-Negros will hold a prayer-march in Bacolod City today calling for the enactment of House Bill 4375 that seeks to extend and overhaul the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
At the same time, TFM is also seeking the passage of House Bill 4296 or the Notice of Coverage extension bill, Lanie Factor, its deputy coordinator, said yesterday.
If passed into law, the DAR can continue to issue Notices of Coverage for lands under Compulsory Acquisition and accept Voluntary Offers to Sell.
