BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Dumaguete Airport is located within the jurisdiction of Sibulan, Mayor Emmanuel Diputado said and the Sangguniang Bayan has passed a resolution requesting the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines to change its name to Sibulan-Dumaguete Airport.

He said the confusion will not be much as it can be done by simply putting the word “Sibulan” in its name.

Meawhile, Diputado said he is against proposals to extend and expand the present airport sideward without a thorough study involving environmental concerns, security and social acceptability of the project.

Almost one month after an operative of the Provincial Intelligence Branch-Special Operations Group was killed, anti-drugs operation has returned to normal, according to SOG deputy team leader SPO4 Allen June Germodo.

Armed with a search warrant issued by RTC Executive Judge Gerardo Paquio Jr., the team swooped down on the residence of Fernando Solibas, a.k.a. Fernan, and confiscated several sachets of shabu and other illegal drugs paraphernalia.

The search was conducted in the presence of Cadawinoan barangay Kagawad Maria Emily Olivo,  the media and the subject of the search warrant. It resulted in the recovery of 13 sachets containing suspected shabu granules, empty sachets, tinfoils, lighter, pair of scissors, and a small amount of cash.

Officials of three barangays in Sibulan town, Negros Oriental, that have boundary disputes met with Mayor Emmanuel Diputado for a possible solution.

Diputado said the dispute came about when a survey group introduced to the local government unit a map that affect the boundaries of barangays Ajong, Looc and Manincao.

He said a big chunk of Manincao could go to Ajong if not properly surveyed using an approved matrix. He called the barangay officials to a meeting to make sure that not one of them is disadvantaged, and that the decision will be fair to all.
