The award bestowed by the prestigious Rotary Club of Manila to the Campuestohan Highland Resort, a project of Bacoleño Ricardo “Cano” Tan and his wife, Nenita, is a very fitting recognition of the entrepreneurship and initiative of a citizen who defied all odds to realize his dream.

Yesterday, “Cano” Tan received the award at the New World Hotel in Makati, together with other distinguished personalities and entities who have excelled in their line of work. These awards are given annually by the club, the oldest Rotary organization in Asia, to recognize those who have contributed to the progress and development not only of their own particular areas, but of the rest of the country as well.

In the case of Cano Tan, his project, that has developed into something that would have been unimaginable in the province a decade ago, has grown into a very imaginative resort that now coffers some of the most sophisticated and challenging games and rides, as well as accommodations that are considered original and most enjoyable, especially to the young.

B ut Campuestohan has everything to entertain and amuse, not only the young, but people of all ages. Aside from all its offerings that provide enjoyment and challenges, it is also located in an area that is continuously cool, with wonderful views of both mountains and seas.

Today, it has become one of the greatest, if not the greatest manmade attractions for tourists in Negros Occidental. Its proximity to Bacolod and Silay cities is among its attractions.

Aside from its citation for the development of the resort, the RCM also pointed out the benefits it has given in the form of jobs to residents of the area. The reference of the Awards chairman, Robert Lim Joseph, to Campuestohan as a “world class resort” must warm the hearts, not only of its owners, but of all Negrenses as well.

The DAILY STAR congratulates the Tan family for this recognition and wishes for them the blessings they deserve for this gift to their people.*
