Cops file three charges
versus militant leaders
BY SHIELA GELERA

Leaders of militant groups in Bacolod City are facing three charges in relation to the stoning and beating incident, where two policemen were injured, during the visit of President Benigno Aquino III in the city, April 30, this year.

Police Officers 1 Mary Joy Tonogan and Vincent dela Cruz, both of the Regional Public Safety Battalion, filed charges for illegal assembly under Batas Pambansa Bilang 880, assault upon a person in authority and his agent, and physical injuries, against the leaders of the protestors.

Senior Insp. Richard Fajarito, Station 1 commander, said yesterday the charges were filed against Christian Tuayon, Noly Rosales, George Arca and Clarizza Dagatan, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office, Tuesday.

Tuayon, secretary general of the Bayan-Negros, said yesterday that they have no intention to fight with the police.

He said they consider the filing of charges against them as a form of repression, claiming that it was the policemen who dispersed and hurt them first.*SGG
