Lack of classrooms
cuts BCC enrollment
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod City College in Bacolod City has stopped accepting new enrollees for school year 2015 to 2016 for lack of classrooms.

About 1,300 first year students have not been able to enroll at the BCC this year.

In an interview over ABS-CBN yesterday, BCC Administrator Johanna Bayoneta said they had about 3,000 examinees last year and this could go higher than 3,000. However, they could only take about one-third of that due to the unavailability of classrooms, she said.

Bayoneta said many students wanted to enroll in Business Administration course but they could only accept about 2,075 enrollees.

Most of the students had graduated from high school two to three years ago. These are students who, probably were not accommodated by the college in the previous years, and who really have no chances of enrolling in other schools other than the BCC, she said.

Bayoneta said that despite the lack of funds, the city is trying to find ways to address the problem.*CGS
