Lightning kills
fisherman in Manapla

Lightning killed a fisherman yesterday in the waters of Brgy. Tortosa in Manapla, Negros Occidental.

Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief, identified the victim as Reynold Porras, 35, of Brgy.Punta Mesa, Manapla.

The companion of Porras, identified as Hope Van Tabanao, who reported the incident, was not hit, Gregorio said.

The two fishermen were checking their “panggal (trap)” for crabs, when Porras was hit, investigations of the Manapla police showed.

Gregorio said that Porras, who suffered burns in various parts of his body, was declared dead on arrival at the Ika-ayong Lawas Foundation Hospital in Victorias City.* GPB
