Employment abroad awaits
Negros dairy farm workers
BY KARLA PANGANIBAN

Foreign employment for dairy workers was generated for Negrenses, with 20 New Zealand dairy workers and three from Japan as of October, records of the Provincial Veterinarian Office show, provincial veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena, said yesterday.

He said this is under the dairy development program that started in Sagay when Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. was still its mayor.

The foreign job in the provincial dairy development program is a ‘bonus' to both the province and families of OFW; who started as dairy farm workers in New Zealand with a two-year contract, but ended up as immigrants, he said.

Decena said that, until today, they have trainees in provincial dairy farming in La Granja, La Carlota and Sagay dairy farms

Fresh milk from cattle dairy is primarily used for milk feeding program of pre schoolers and to reduce malnutrition that is common to young children, Decena said. *KDP
