“Negros Occidental: Land of Sweet Surprises” is the new tourism slogan of the province, a press release from the Capitol said.

Provincial Consultant on Investment Promotions Rafael Coscolluela yesterday said that the adopted slogan with a logo is a work in progress.

“It will show the festiveness and the diversity of Negros Occidental and its people,” Coscolluela added.

This was the result of a Strategic Communication Planning Workshop that was held last week, attended by tourism industry stakeholders, representatives from the provincial government of Negros Occidental and local government units of the province, that created a new slogan for the tourism campaign of the province, the press release said.

The workshop intends to inspire more travellers to connect with the province's new brand that will showcase many of its best and unique nature-based, farm tourism and cultural heritage products and experiences through tourism, it said.

The two-day workshop was sponsored by the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development through the Dept. of Interior and Local Government, which is a cooperation program of the Governments of Canada and the Philippines, it added.

The activity was held at GT Hotel in Bacolod City, facilitated by the Provincial Tourism Office and consultants from the Foundation for Communication Initiatives, Inc. led by advertising guru Emily Abrera.

The participants went through a series of lectures on destination marketing, group and plenary discussions, and individual and group activities, Coscolluela said.

The official tourism slogan will soon have its grand launching, he added.*
