The total number of registered voters in Negros Occidental to be purged from the Commission on Elections list is 46,353, with 4,704 from Bacolod City, for having no biometrics, but the number may decrease, Provincial Elections Supervisor Jessie Suarez said yesterday.
The data is based on an October 31 provincial Comelec report of registered voters in the province at the end of September, with the additional data for October yet to be added to the list, he said.
The October 31 report showed that the province had 1,636,339 registered voters at the end of September but with 46,353 to be purged, that would bring the number down to 1,589,986, he said.
Suarez is still confident that the number of registered voters of Negros Occidental will exceed 1.6 million when the October registration figures are added to their list.
He said the 46,353 figure of voters with no biometrics may also decrease if some of them were able to go to Comnelec offices in the province before the October 31 deadline to correct the problem.
Based on the tentative Comelec data Bacolod City had the most number of registered voters at 270,129, followed by Kabankalan City with 91,321, Bago City - 90,089, Cadiz City – 81,701, San Carlos City – 76, 296, Silay City – 76,194, Sagay City – 71,898;

Isabela – 34,197, E.B. Magalona – 33,920, Ilog – 31,408, Pontevedra – 30,278, Manapla – 28,416, Hinobaan – 27,556, Moises Padilla- 24,100, Toboso – 23,622, Valladolid – 23,177, San Enrique – 16,238,Pulupandan – 15,812, Salvador Benedicto – 13,999, and Candoni – 11,913.
