The first meeting of the Regional Development Council of the Negros Island Region is proposed to be held on December 4.
However, the date is subject to the approval of Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, Neg. Occ. Provincial Planning and Development Officer Marlin Sanogal said yesterday.
Sanogal, who was attending the Regional Development Committee for Visayas Area meeting in Bohol, said updates on the establishment of the NIR were presented by National Economic and Development Authority 7 Regional Director Efren Carreon yesterday.
Carreon has been appointed concurrent NEDA head for the NIR. That automatically makes him the vice chairperson of the RDC in the NIR, Sanogal said.
NEDA Director General Arsenio Balisacan has tasked Carreon with preparing the NIR 2016 work and financial plan and to lead in the organization of its RDC.
The proposed agenda of the first RDC meeting of the NIR is the approval of the RDC Manual of Operations, creation of the RDC Sectoral Committees, and the decision of the venue and dates of the NIR RDC meetings.
Carreon is scheduled to call on Marañon Friday.*CPG
