Slovakian victim of snatching
BY SHIELA GELERA

The bag of a Slovakian national was snatched by motorcycle-riding men at Rosario-Lacson streets in Barangay 37, Bacolod City, at about 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Martina Strpkova, 29, of Nitra, Slovakia told the police that she and her friend just alighted from a jeepney and were walking at Rosario-Lacson streets on their way to their inn when the two suspects, on board a red Rouser motorcycle, blocked their way.

One of the men snatched the bag of Strpkova, threatened to shoot them with a gun, and escaped, she said.

The bag contained two Slovak credit cards, a camera worth P5,000, an identification card, a hotel key, and P2,000 in cash, police records show.

Strpkova said she and her companion would have only stayed overnight in the city before proceeding to Iloilo province.

Chief Insp. Richard Fajarito, Police Station 1 commander, said yesterday the investigation on the case is ongoing to identify the culprits.

The area where the incident happened was dark, and there were no closed-circuit television cameras, Fajarito said.

Although the suspects were not wearing helmets or bonnets, Strpkova and her companion could not give the description of the driver and the back-rider because they have not seen their faces, Fajarito also said.*SGG
