‘Flotsam' showing
in Bacolod urged
Numerous calls are being made on social media for the showing of the indie film, “Flotsam”, in Bacolod theaters.
The calls were made after Negrense director Jay Abello posted on his Facebook wall that “Flotsam” won't be showing in Bacolod. “We tried our best but weren't given a slot in the cinema. Sad, because half of the production of the film were Ilonggos from Negros,” he said.
The film is written and directed by Abello.
It is named after a quaint artist beach hotel in San Juan, La Union, and stars Solenn Heussaff, Rocco Nacino, Carla Humphries, Marc Abaya, and Julia Quisimbing.
Key persons in the film's production include Negrenses Mickey Galang as writer, Joncy Sumulong - co-writer, executive producer, co-owner/creator of Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel, Carla Suiza and Mia Sebastian - co-owners/creators of Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel, Mark Sabas - production designer, Ian Traifalgar - art director, and Jeff Ortega - actor.
The story is about a work-obsessed overachiever Kai (Heussaff), who arrives in an Elysian Surf Town to run away from a volatile relationship. She hides in Flotsam, where she meets Tisoy (Nacino), a mysterious local bartender who became her summer fling and perfect antidote to restiveness.*
