LCC-B gets
quality certification
La Consolacion College Bacolod has been certified recently with the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System by TUV Rheinland Philippines Inc., after the school succeeded in the thorough assessment by the external certifying body, its press release said.
LCC Bacolod president, Sr. Gavina Barrera, said the certification is a big step in their preparations for the university status. She added it has put in place a strong mechanism to sustain continuous improvement and institutionalize coherent and consistent policies and procedures in all aspects of academic operation, from governance to the delivery of instruction and all support services.
The appraisal, conducted July by TUV Rheinland's accredited auditors, who are also academicians, showed a “zero non-conformance” report, which means that LCC Bacolod has satisfied the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 QMS.
Among the areas commended by the auditors include the school's institutional environmental advocacy program, the service learning program, educational facilities, highly engaging delivery of lessons by the faculty, and the use of instructional tools that encourage the development of higher order thinking skills, the press release also said.
The auditors also commended the school's program for students with absentee parents and the institutionalization of programs that maximize the use of learning resources. The entire academic community of LCC Bacolod has been involved in putting together documentations and the necessary realignment of its procedures to meet the requirements for ISO 9001:2008 QMS since November 2014.
On the programs level, LCC Bacolod maintains accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Colleges and Universities and the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation.
The recent ISO accreditation underscores LCC's unremitting commitment to excellence and quality. TUV Rheinland is expected to conduct another audit by 2016, the press release added.*
