PNG Visayas leg
kicks off in Antique

Antique Gov. Rhodora Cadiao and the sports officials from the Philippine National Games 2015 and Philippine Olympic Committee wished the athletes good luck as they started to compete in thirteen different events yesterday.

During the opening ceremonies of the Philippine National Games Visayas Leg yesterday afternoon, Cadiao said that she welcomes the officials and athletes from Region 6,7,8 and the Negros Island Region as well as athletes in three national events that will be held in San Jose from Nov. 11-14.

She said the sports event is an avenue for the youth to become better individuals because it instills physical fitness and fair play.

“Youth better focus on sports and games rather than gambling,” she said.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Games 2015 Project Director Jay Alano thanked Cadiao for accepting the hosting of the event.

Winners in the Visayas Qualifying Leg will proceed to compete in the national level and that she hopes athletes will serve as inspiration and role models for the other youth.

Sports events athletes would compete in taekwondo, swimming, athletics, karatedo, billiards, arnis, badminton, archery, chess and boxing for the Visayas Leg while weightlifting, Muay Thai and Pencak Silat are the national sports events.*PNA
