Regional Trial Court of Negros Occidental Branch 47 Judge Therese Blanche Bolunia yesterday sentenced two Bacoleños to life imprisonment for the sale of drugs in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Sentenced were Gilbert Magsusi Estrellas, alias Totong Estrellas, and Erwin Estrellas Dima-ala, alias Cid.
On July 15, 2010, Estrellas and Dima-ala were nabbed for the sale of five plastic sachets containing 16.95 grams dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops for P500 in marked bills, to a police poseur buyer in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Supplies of shabu, which allegedly originated from the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa City, have found their way to Negros Occidental.
This was admitted by several arrested drug peddlers, who claimed to have contacts inside the national penitentiary who are serving their sentences for drug-related cases, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, Victorias City police chief, yesterday said.
Rapiz said the supply of shabu is reportedly being sent through a courier service company. .

IN DUMAGUETE
30 shooting incidents noted
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE
Thirty shooting incidents were reported in Dumaguete City from January to November this year, less eight incidents compared to 2014, with 38 shootings.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria reported on this to clarify insinuations that the peace and order situation in Dumaguete is getting worse, and that his administration is mum on the issue.
He said that based on facts and figures, it would appear that it has even improved, although there are 49 more days to go before 2015 ends.
