Gasataya names
five executive assistants

Acting Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya has designated replacements for five out of the 10 terminated executive assistants of suspended Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella.

Gasataya said he appointed lawyer Joseph Chiu, former City Accountant Eduardo Ravena, Noel Tamparong, Elsie Jolingan, and retired Senior Police Officer 4 Dennis Perma.

They will fill in the positions of terminated supervising/administrative officer Roger Dullano, executive assistants Rocky Puentevella, Rufino Alcala, Agnes Lira Jundos and Reynaldo Ebreo, respectively, he said.moremoremore

Buri road payment proposed

The legal counsel of the 11 lot owners at Buri Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, has proposed to the city government, the payment of a minimal valuation on their property during a meeting with acting Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya yesterday.

The complainants had earlier filed a complaint for just compensation against the Department of Public Works and Highways, and the Bacolod City Government after the lapse of the ultimatum they had set. In September.

Pauline Nuega, their legal counsel, yesterday said the proposal came after tension arose between the lot owners and the workers of the project being initiated by the DPWH Thursday.moremoremore

3 die of typhoid fever

The province of Negros Oriental recorded three deaths due to typhoid fever this year compared to only one last year, a report submitted by assistant provincial health officer, Dr. Edgardo Barredo, to the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance unit of the Department of Health, said.

From January to November 15 this year, 489 typhoid cases were recorded with three deaths, which is 38 percent higher compared to 354 cases for the whole of 2014. The victims were aged five months to 91 years old.

Barredo said the deaths were recorded in Bayawan City with the highest number of typhoid cases, so far, at 75, Guihulngan with 66 cases, Mabinay 54, Siaton 49, Canlaon 38, Dumaguete 32, Bais City 28, Sta. Catalina 17, Sibulan 13, and Ayungon 12. moremoremore
