2 deny ownership of guns
found in van involved in road mishap

Three persons suspected of being members of an organized crime group, who were arrested for alleged illegal possession of firearms and for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property, have waived their rights to a regular preliminary investigation.

Arham Diamaden Alimoden and Ryan Manan Lumangcolob, all of Basak, Lapu-lapu City in Cebu, were assisted by their temporary counsel, Gary Guido Tabios of the Public Attorney's Office during inquest proceedings Wednesday, conducted by assistant provincial prosecutor II Ethyl Eleccion-Vidal at the Hall of Justice in Dumaguete City.

A third suspect was ordered to be placed in the custody of the social welfare office in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, for being a minor.

During the inquest, the two vehemently denied ownership of the guns recovered from their vehicle, which rammed into the pavement of the Sibulan park Tuesday evening.

They claimed that the police planted the evidence while they were taking their meals nearby.

Recovered during the search were two hand guns without supporting documents, a silencer, ammunition and three wigs, a bonnet, and a cowboy hat.

In the picture galleries of one of the cell phones recovered, a male person was photographed wearing the same wig and the black bonnet.

When asked if they will be able to post bail, a woman who claims to be the wife of Lumangcolob said they will have to ask help from members of their family for contribution.

The two are presently detained at Camp Francisco Fernandez in Agan-an, Sibulan for security reasons.

The suspects were given 10 days to file their counter-affidavits, and were ordered by Vilan to appear before her office, 1:30 p.m. on December 9, along with the witnesses for the government.

After they were intercepted on board a Ceres bus bound for Cebu, the two claimed they were on their way to Salvador, Lanao del Norte.*PNA
