Concert for a cause
at Organic Festival

Bacolodnon reggae singer Juan Manuel “Kokoi” Baldo, a contestant in The Voice Philippines Season 2 last year, will hold a concert for-a-cause at the provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park, 7 p.m. tonight, a press release from organizers said.

Opening act is the Cali Island Band. The concert is part of the ongoing 10th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival at the North Capitol Road and provincial Capitol, on the theme “Halin Talamnan, Tubtob Kalan-an (Farm to Table)”, the press release also said.

Today's activities revolve on Rural Women's Day, and organic and responsible seafood forum. There will also be a forum on organic agriculture program, 10 a.m. at the Capitol, by Dr. Armigenia Benedicto, focal person for organic of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

Symposia at the Capitol Social Hall today include wood vinegar production at 8 a.m., integrated diversified organic farming system and farm business 9:30 a.m., “How Green is Your Plate?” 10:30 a.m., technology updates on organic milkfish and mangrove crab 1 p.m., technology updates on organic tilapia and ulang 2:30 p.m., and responsible seafoods at 4 p.m., the press release said.

Tomorrow is Family Farmers' Day, hosted by the Department of Agrarian Reform. There will be a lecture-forum on the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program in Negros Occidental, and the latest in natural farming technology.

Symposia that same day include organic feeds production at 9:30 a.m., and organic food products as main attraction for tourists 10:30 a.m. The launching of the memorandum of understanding for organic advocacy will be held at 1:30 p.m., thanksgiving mass 3 p.m., and awarding and closing program at 4 p.m.

After the closing ceremonies, the Department of Agriculture will hold a cultural show and composo at the Capitol Lagoon and Park starting at 5:30 p.m., the press release added.*
