BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod calls on all city barangay officials to ensure that employers register all domestic workers under their employment in the registry of domestic workers in the barangay where the employer's residence is located.

This is pursuant to Republic Act 10361 or an “Act instituting policies and welfare of domestic workers,” the resolution approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday said.

The resolution authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. said the State strongly affirms labor as a primary social force and is committed to respect, promote, protect and realize the fundamental principles and rights of workers.

On September 22 it was agreed in principle in a forum among the representatives of the Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Labor, the Tripartite Wage Board and the barangays in Bacolod City to strictly enforce Republic Act 10361, the resolution said.

The SP also approved a resolution enjoining the Bacolod City Health Office through the Office of City Mayor Monico Puentevella to conduct training to city employees on emergency first aid .

The resolution authored by Gamboa said House Bill 5869 introduced by Rep.Joseller “Yeng” Guiao entitled An Act Requiring K-12 High School Students to undergo Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Training has recently been approved by the Lower House Education Committee.
