13 rescued on
vessel in distress

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary recued the 13 members of the crew of a vessel in distress about 10 nautical miles away from Sipalay City yesterday afternoon.

Lt. Commander Ramil Palabrica, Coast Guard Bacolod Station chief, said the Coast Guard received a distress call from M/V Ocean Master, a 60 gross ton vessel that had lost its propeller in Sipalay waters, at about 1:45 p.m. yesterday, Palabrica said.

The vessel had delivered lanzones to Iloilo and was on its way back to Jolo, he said.

The Coast Guard sought the help of Sipalay Councilor Dionilo Bugtae of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, who lent a fishing vessel to tow the M/V Ocean Master to Campomanes Bay in Sipalay City, Palabrica said.

Rescued were crew members Timhar Quirino, 35, Keh Dugasan, 41, Timhar Dugasan, 24, Ansal Indanan, 33, Hamid Tahajum, 46, Cesal Anih, 20, Sammy Majad, 45, Kahadul Kuyong, 38, Nasil Denden, 27, Romeo Ramos, 48,  Sajir Arabbi, 49, Ussam Ahajani, 43, and Ladimer Hamid, 26, he added.*CPG
