Power Watch raises
alarm vs. Kepco
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Power Watch is opposing a motion filed by Kepco SPC Power Corp. before the Energy Regulatory Commission to be granted permission to collect P232 million in “unnominated contract quantities”.

Power Watch will oppose this over contracted power supply payment that will adversely affect the economic plight of the consumers and the financial stability of Ceneco, its secretary general Wennie Sancho, said yesterday.

“This issue is very alarming not only to Power Watch but for all Ceneco consumers. The heavy burden that will be imposed upon the already suffering electric consumers, if and when ERC will decide and give the final order is staggering,” Sancho said.

The only way Ceneco will be able to pay KSPC is to increase the rate of consumers' monthly electric bills, he said.

The ERC will hear KSPC's motion at Ceneco's Main Office in Bacolod City at 2:30 p.m. today, Sancho said.*CPG
