VM Lizares jumper gives 1-Series
crown over 5-Series; Sajo is MVP
After splitting the first two matches in convincing fashion in their best-of-three finals, the Thursday finale of the Autobahn-BMW Cup at the North Point in Talisay City went down to the wire.
Vice Mayor Neil Lizares of 1-Series hit the go-ahead jumper with 56 seconds remaining to seal the championship run with a 100-96 nail-biter against a resilient 5-Series squad.
Sean Sajo, who averaged 27 points per outing in the finals, was the unanimous choice for the Most Valuable Player award. It was a bitter pill to swallow for the 5-Series squad as the outcome would have been different had they not missed 22 attempts from the charity stripe.
