MANILA-- The Senate yesterday voted 14-0 to pass on third and final reading a bill providing the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) with more access to micro-financing.
Senate Bill No. 2909, introduced by Sen. Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV, aims to expand and strengthen the current Credit Surety Fund (CSF) program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) by making it easier for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives and non-government organizations, authorized representatives of local government units (LGUs), government financial institutions (GFIs) and other institutional/government agencies, to gain access to credit facilities.


Food-for-work budget allotted for
banana plantation project

Rice worth P270,000 was turned over yesterday by the Negros Occidental provincial government and the Provincial Environment Management Office to upland farmers as part of their food for work activity under the bamboo plantation and production project.
Luisa Tutor, provincial environment management specialist and upland farmer's coordinator, said farmers have to plant three hectares of land with 360 bamboo seedlings. They will be provided with 540 kg of rice in exchange.


MassKara to bring in more income

Businessmen and vendors are expected to earn more during this year's MassKara Festival compared to 2014 , Rhoderick Samonte, Kasadya Bacolod Development Foundation Inc. president and MassKara Festival director , said yesterday.
Samonte said more events were added to this year's festival that provide additional opportunities for vendors and businessmen to showcase their products.
