BY KARLA PANGANIBAN

The 19 th MassKara Village organized by ABS-CBN Bacolod opened yesterday at the second floor of Robinsons Place Bacolod, featuring 23 mask designs that showcase local talents and artistry, station manager Leilanie Salem Alba said.

She said the masks have better and improved quality of designs, and acknowledged the Bacolod City government for its support.

The exhibit reflects this year's festival theme, “It's Booming Bacolod. Experience the Vibrance!" said Marty Go, MassKara Village executive producer.

The masks are products of ABS-CBN's mask-making competition, and these will be worn in a parade at Robinsons' fountain area on October 16, where the winners will be known, he said.

The grand winner will receive P25,000, and the first and second runners-up will win P15,000 and P10,000, respectively, while P1,000 will be given as consolation prize, he added.

Bacolod first lady Josefa Puentevella said that apart from the street dancing, the exhibit is a great option to enjoy the MassKara Festival.

Festival director Rhoderick Samonte said MassKara improves each year, and the MassKara Village is one of its popular activities.

Robinsons Place has been the home of MassKara Village, it is a one big art gallery to showcase the creativity of Negrense artists, Kristine Tomas, the mall's marketing manager, said.

Also present during the opening ceremony were Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, councilors Em Ang, Caesar Distrito and Wilson Gamboa Jr., tourism officer Butch Gerasmo, and Panasiatic Recruitment manager Alain Pilar.*Karla Panganiban
