Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency recovered an estimated P1.2 million worth of suspected shabu from three suspects arrested during buy-bust operations in Bacolod City and Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, yesterday.

PDEA team leader Johna Mirador said the arrest of Risa Trocio and John Michael de Asis in Brgy. Zone 4, Cadiz City, yielded 142 grams of suspected shabu, with street market value estimated at P850,000.

Mirador said the two suspects, who had been under surveillance for two weeks, were monitored to be peddling drugs in Cadiz City, and getting their supply of shabu from Manila.moremoremore

Kagawad arrested
for guns, ammo

A barangay kagawad, who is reportedly a leader of an anti-communist group, was arrested yesterday during a raid at his residence in Calatrava, Negros Occidental, that yielded firearms and assorted ammunition.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Sagay Regional Regional Trial Court Judge Reginald Fuentebella, combined teams of the Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Company, Special Operations Group of NOPPO and the local police swooped down on the house of Kagawad Felipe Rojo in Sitio Taub, Brgy, Dolis, Calatrava.

Senior Inspector Mark Angelo Junco, Calatrava police chief, said the raid at the house of Rojo, who is also a leader of the so-called “Bagulan” anti-communist group, resulted in the confiscation of a homemade shotgun, a .38 caliber revolver, 81 live ammunition of a .30 caliber garand rifle, 14 empty clips of an M-1 garand rifle , 12 brittle clips of an M-60 machine gun, and a bandolier of a garand rifle.moremoremore

Unsolved shooting cases
in Neg.Or. to be reviewed

The Philippine National Police Regional Office-7 has ordered investigators in Central Visayas for a review and update of unsolved shooting incidents in their jurisdiction, including in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.

This was confirmed by Supt. Jovito Atanacio, police chief of Dumaguete City, in his message during the indignation rally Tuesday evening, initiated by Negros Oriental lawyers in protest of the murder of a lawyer who was shot and killed in broad daylight in front of the Regional Trial Court branch in Bayawan City September 29.

As per directive of PRO-7 regional director Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, all investigators on case will be sent to Cebu on Oct. 20 in time for the review the following day. They will bring along with them case folders of shooting incidents in their respective areas of jurisdictions..moremoremore
