Love Negros is supporting a Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.-Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson tandem in 2016, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) announced yesterday.

At a press conference yesterday, Lacson finally announced that he is running for reelection under the Nationalist People's Coalition-Love Negros team, in what he said will be the toughest battle of his political career.

Lacson, who has no Love Negros runningmate for the top post of the province, will be going up against Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) of the United Negros Alliance. moremoremore

congress in 2 districts

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday named the Love Negros congressional bets for the third, fifth and sixth districts, and said their candidate for the first district has yet to be announced.

He said Love Negros is not fielding congressional bets in the second and fourth district. Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva is seeking reelection in the second district, while La Carlota Mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer is running for the fourth congressional seat under the United Negros Alliance (Unega) ticket.

Lacson said the choice of the LN congressional bet and two candidates for board members of the first district is a decision outgoing Rep. Julio Ledesma will have to make..moremoremore

NegOr SP acts to improve
legislation performance


About 200 participants, including mayors, vice mayors, local legislators and other government workers attended a forum yesterday, spearheaded by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Oriental in Dumaguete City.

This is to improve performance, cut down on time and boost current knowledge and management of the local legislative process. Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias said this is the first time in the province’s known history that a forum such as this has been held.

One of the functions of the SP is to review ordinances and resolutions passed by the component cities and municipalities, he said, adding they at the SP have observed over the past several months that many resolutions and ordinances from the different legislative councils in Negros Oriental have to be returned due to errors in procedures, as well as lacking the necessary information..moremoremore
