DILG temporarily holds
suspension of Monico
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Department of Interior and Local Government Region 6 has temporarily withheld enforcing the 90-day suspension order issued by the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division against Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella.

Cedric Jaranilla, legal counsel of DILG 6, yesterday said they received the suspension order from the Sandiganbayan Thursday afternoon.

They cannot serve Puentevella's suspension order yet, because the Central Office needs to check if the mayor's legal team had filed a motion for reconsideration before the Sandiganbayan, or for a temporary restraining order with the Supreme Court, Jaranilla said in an interview over Aksyon Radyo.moremoremore

File COCs early,
Comelec urges
BY CARLA GOMEZ

File your Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) early, Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez urged candidates for the 2016 polls yesterday.

Suarez issued the appeal with the period for filing of COCs set to start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday until Friday next week, with no extension.

Some candidates have superstitious beliefs or practice feng shui where certain times and dates for filing of COCs are supposed to bring them good luck, he said. moremoremore

Poe's disqualification
case decision in Nov.
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Senator Grace Poe yesterday said the Senate Electoral Tribunal is still hearing the disqualification case filed against her, and is expected to come up with a decision in November.

Poe, who was in Dumaguete City yesterday, said what she and her political camp are fighting for is not just for her but for the thousands of children who could not identify or locate their biological parents.

These children will lose their citizenship if they are made to undergo a process to prove it, and the result of the disqualification case filed against her would impact on them, she added. .moremoremore
