VMA Sharks puts away ACAI,
Sacred Heart in men's cagefest

Visayan Maritime Academy Global College blew away Asian College of Aeronautics Inc., 96-47, then totally demolished Sacred Heart Seminary, 147-57, to register back-to-back wins in NOPSSCEA Season 35 men's basketball over the weekend at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

The twin victories also assured the Rex Bayer and Gudoy Cepriano-mentored VMA Sharks of the No. 2 spot in the team standings in Bracket A of the tournament.

In the games both against the ACAI and SHS, the Sharks displayed a highly improved performance as compared to their last year's showing. A 2-2-1 trapping defense by the Sharks frutrate their opponents while their shooters hit their mark to deliver the needend baskets

Abegail Areval carded 54 points to lead Manila Southwoods in capturing its fifth straight title in the 10th Philippine Airlines Ladies Interclub Saturday at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club course in Bacolod City.

Bouncing from a 49-point opening round output, Arevalo sizzled with six birdies against two bogeys the round for a tournament best four-under par 68.

“I was very disappointed with my play in the first round, but I knew I could play much better. Today, I proved it,” said Arevalo who won two international tournaments this year.

Amir Khan negotiates
for fight vs. Pacquiao

Amir Khan said on Saturday he believes that there is a "75 percent" chance a big money fight with Manny Pacquiao will go ahead.

The British boxer, speaking at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Doha, Qatar, confirmed that his management team are in talks with the Filipino boxing legend and was confident he would finally land a fight he has been chasing for some time.

"I think 75 per cent," he told the media when asked what the chances are of any fight going ahead. "I think this could happen."
