Twenty more mayoral candidates, four of whom are incumbents, filed their certificates of candidacy at COMELEC offices in towns and cities of Negros Occidental yesterday, Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez said.

The candidates are:

FIRST DISTRICT

SALVADOR BENEDICTO: Mayor – incumbent Jose Max Ortiz (Independent) Marxlen de la Cruz (Unega/LP), Antonio de Jesus (Independent); Vice Mayor - Nehemiah De La Cruz (Unega/LP), Romulo Toledo Guion (Independent), Nesie Arcillas (Independent)

SECOND DISTRICT

SAGAY: Mayor – incumbent Alfredo Marañon III (NUP/ Unega); Vice Mayor - Narciso Javelosa Jr. (NUP/Unega)

THIRD DISTRICT

TALISAY CITY: Mayor - Sheila Yap-Saratan (LP); Vice Mayor - Charles Benedict “CB” Lacson

EB MAGALONA: Mayor - Marvin Malunes Malacon (NUP, Unega); Vice Mayor - Robert Fermin Acaling (NUP/Unega)

FOURTH DISTRICT

PULUPANDAN: Mayor – incumbent Miguel Consing Peña (NPC); Vice Mayor: Anthony Gerard Suatengco Arroyo - (NPC)

BAGO: Mayor – Raymund Clarito Decendario (Independent)

CANDONI: Mayor  - Penuel Togon Tanio (Independent)

Sipalay: Mayor – incumbent Oscar Montilla Jr. (NPC); Vice Mayor - Gina Lizarez (LP)

The number of candidates who filed their CoCs in the towns and cities of Negros Occidental from Monday to Wednesday reached 291, Suarez said.

Of the 291, running for mayor are 34, vice mayor – 27 and councilors – 89, he added.*CPG
