The series of anti-drug operations in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental by the police on Wednesday yielded about P435,000 worth of suspected shabu and guns, and the arrest of 10 suspects for alleged violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The buy-bust operation in Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, led to the recovery of 65 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street market value of P390,000, and two homemade 22 and 38 caliber revolvers with six ammunition, police records show.
Supt. Antonietto Canete, Himamaylan City police chief, yesterday said the buy-bust operation also resulted in the arrest of Joel Monton, alias Bob, Mark Alvin Florogo and John Mark Aglipa, all residents of Brgy. Aguisan, in the city.
Canete said that Monton, an alleged drug personality in HImamaylan City, was immediately arrested during the buy-bust operation, while Florogo and Aglipa were apprehended inside the alleged drug den for engaging in a pot session.
However, Vincent Alcazar and Ailyn Songquiawon, who were allegedly repacking shabu also inside the drug den, managed to escape.
The three arrested suspects are now in jail.
More than P3 million worth of suspected shabu has already been recovered by the police in Himamaylan City alone, since January up to this time.
Police Chief Inspector Edencio Gregorio also reported the arrest of Noel Garcia in Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla, for having five sachets of suspected shabu in his possession.
Gregorio, who is the Manapla police chief, said the arrest of Garcia came after a complaint was filed against him for the alleged crime of acts of lasciviousness.
A certain Juanito Arevalo also surrendered yesterday a homemade .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition to the Manapla police, under its Oplan Katok campaign, Gregorio said.
Meanwhile, an air gun, P45,000 worth of suspected shabu and marijuana were seized during a buy-bust operation in Purok 1 Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City, at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The operation also yielded the arrest of Marivic Monte, 46, who sold to the police poseur-buyer, a small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P200 in marked money, a police report said.
Two elongated and four big plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a sachet of suspected dried marijuana leaves, and an air gun were also recovered by the police, police records show.
In Purok Maghiliugyon, Barangay 35 in Bacolod, the police arrested Robert Devera, 30, during a buy-bust operation at about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Three sachets of suspected shabu, P200 in marked money and several drugs paraphernalia were confiscated during the operation, police records show.
Twenty minutes later, a suspected pusher and three persons, including a minor, who were allegedly engaging in a pot session, were nabbed in Purok Katilingban, Barangay 40 in the city.
Arrested were Johnmark Millendez, 27, Jun Moncada, 19, Rodylen Yanson, 24, and a minor, police records show.
The police seized from Millendez, P200 worth of shabu as buy-bust item and another big sachet also of suspected shabu.
Meanwhile recovered on top of a table, where Moncada, Yanson and the minor were allegedly having a pot session, were two improvised tooters with visible traces of suspected shabu, two disposable lighters, and other drugs paraphernalia, police records show.
Millendez, Moncada, and Yanson were detained at the lock-up cell of Station 6 while the minor was turned over to the Social Development Center, the police added.*GPB/SGG
