Top taxpayers and employees of Bacolod City were honored for their outstanding contributions to Bacolod City during its 77 th Charter Day program at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod last night.
The top five corporate real property taxpayers honored were SM Prime Holdings Inc., San Miguel Brewery Inc., Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines, Dynasty Management 7 Development Corporation, and Robinsons Land Corporation.

The top five business taxpayers were Coca Cola FEMSA, which is already a hall of famer, and Schuurmans & Van Ginneken Philippines, Mainstream Business Inc. (SM Department Store), SM Prime Holdings Inc., Golden Arch Development Corp. (Mc Donalds), and Marketing One Unlimited Inc., (Lopue's East and Araneta).
Analou Buelba, bookkeeper of the City Engineer's Office; Rogelio Plaida, utility worker 1 of the Department of Public Services; Loben Rafael Ceballos, engineer III, City Engineer's Office; and Michael Vincent Salga, administrative officer III, City Planning and Development Office, were awarded as most outstanding city government employees.*CGS

Beauty queen visits VMA
Reigning Miss Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2015, Leren Mae Bautista, visited the campuses of VMA Global College and its two training centers yesterday, a press release from the school said.
She talked about personality development to around 200 Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant students of VMAGC.
Korea's Western Lowa Tech Community College executive director Terry Yi, and asia representatives Dong Hoon Lee, Stephano Kim, Ashley Kim, Rui Shim and Thea Kilayko also visited the school recently, the press release added.*

win statistics quiz
Statistics Quiz, held at the Grand Regal Hotel in Bacolod City, recently, followed by Toboso NHS, Himamaylan NHS, Negros Occidental High School, and the Don~a Hortencia Salas Benedicto NHS, a press release from the Capitol said.
The five schools received certificates and cash prizes of P7,000, P6,000, P5,000, P4,500 and P4,000, respectively, and will represent the province in the statistics regional finals in Iloilo on Friday.
The 23 groups representing secondary schools of Negros Occidental were trimmed down to 10 after the qualifying round by paper and pencil test. The final round determined the top five schools.
Don~a Monserat Lopez Memorial High School, Negros Occidental National Science High School, La Castellana NHS, Hinigaran NHS, and Ramon Torres Dulao NHS complete the top 10 schools during the stat quiz.
The judges were Colegio San Agustin College of Engineering dean Felicidad Altalaguire, Jessamine Calma of the Colegio San Agustin, and Febe Quinco of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.
The annual stat quiz aims to assess the competency of high school students in statistics, the press release said.
Meanwhile, Sagay is among the five of the 127 cities nationwide, covered by the Millennium Development Goals-Family Based Action for Children and their Environs in the Slums (MDG-FACES), invited to showcase in the Galing Pook Local Governance Fair at SMX, Manila recently, a press release from the city said.
It was among the 22 cities included in the second rollout of the program. Since its launching on July 4, 2012, MDG-FACES created a notable impact on the lives of 80 family beneficiaries living in the slum areas of barangays Old Sagay and Himogaan Baybay. Aside from full scholarship that the program provides for children-beneficiaries, the city also extended support on the livelihood of parents, family and values orientation strengthening, health and environmental awareness, and relocation program in a form of a house and lot package given to families who completed their sweat equity in the MDG Village relocation site.
The program is fully supported by Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva (Neg. Occ., 2 nd District) and Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, through the provision of funding allocation, creation of MDG-FACES Core Team, and designation of community organizers to manage and supervise its implementation, the press release also said.
Numerous assistance were extended to the beneficiaries, like trainings on livelihood programs, startup capital for livelihood support, relocation of nine families from the slum areas, and full scholarship of 80 children, 39 of them in college.
The three-day Local Governance Expo, on the theme “Mamamayan, Mamamayani”, featured local government units with best practices, and the finalists in the Galing Pook Awards. Pilot programs of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, like disaster risk reduction and management and the MDG-FACES were also highlighted by inviting LGUs that exhibited exemplary performances in the implementation of these programs, the press release added.*
