20th UNIGAMES
opens at BAYS Center

Athletes from more than 40 schools all over the country will be trooping to the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center for the opening ceremony of the 20 th University Games 4 .pm. today.

The competition will run from October 25-30 with the top athletes from different universities and colleges competing in 12 sporting events.

At stake are gold, silver, and bronze medals in athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, football, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, and beach volleyball.

Demonteverde sizzles with 54 pts.
as Legends prevail over 2008-09

Peewee Demonteverde sizzled with 54 points as Legends 92 posted a 125-89 victory over Money Global Credit Corp. 2008-09, while Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod 93-95 pulled off a 104-93 win over AX Currency Exchange in the quarterfinals of the 8th SJI Alumni Basketball Friendship Cup played Thursday night at the Msgr. John Liu Activities Center.

The Legends had several offensive putbacks, free throw opportunities and fastbreak points to score at least 30 points in each quarter to post the breakaway win.

Oliver Manaloto added 29 points for the Legends while Glin Ortaliz shot 14 points, Mark Yee and Toffel Tan with 10 points apiece, and Deonyson Dy added 5 markers. Chris Javelosa held down to two points, but was the defensive anchor in the middle and hauled down several rebounds.

NOHS bowlfest starts
today at Super Lanes

The 1 st Conference of the Negros Occidental High School General Alumni Inter-class Bowling Tournament will unfold today at the Negros Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City,

It will start after the 3 p.m. meeting of team managers and captains at the NSL lobby.

The tournament is a 10-scheduled game event where the top four teams in three divisions to be contested will vie for the title in an up-the-ladder system to determine the champion.
