‘No nuisance bets in Bacolod'
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Election Officer Mavil Majarucon-Sia said yesterday no nuisance candidates have filed certificates of candidacy in Bacolod City for the 2016 polls.

Majarucon-Sia said she has already recommended the list of the 38 candidates for the May 2016 local and national elections to the Commission on Elections-Central Office for verification of the Law Department and for identification of possible nuisance candidates.

Although they are still waiting for the verification from Central Office, she believes there were no nuisance candidates who filed COC's in Bacolod, Majarucon-Sia said.

Among the new candidates who filed their COC's were Wilfredo David and Joel Enriquez, she said.

David will run against incumbent Mayor Monico Puentevella and Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia, and Enriquez against Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, Councilors Carlos Jose Lopez and Archie Baribar, former vice mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and former city administrator Rolando Villamor, for the congressional post.

Majarucon-Sia said that out of the 27 familiar names who are running for councilor in the city, four filed their COCs as independent candidates.

These are Alan Arroyo, Rico Ferdinand Villafuerte, Ronnie Albao and Jose Godfrey Peraren, she added.*CGS
