bid to dismiss tax suit
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The Regional Trial Court has denied the motion to dismiss filed by the City of Bacolod in the civil case filed against it by the Chamber of Real Estate Builder's Association and Subdivision Housing Developers Association-Negros Occidental on the implementation of the new Real Property Tax Code.

In his order dated September 23, 2015, RTC Judge Fernando Elumba of Branch 42 said the respondent City of Bacolod, through counsel, filed a motion to dismiss on the ground that the petitioners have a plain, speedy and adequate remedy under Section 187 of the Local Government Code of 1991, but failed to avail of the administrative remedies available to them.moremoremore

Voters urged to come early
on last day of registration
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The Commission on Elections in Dumaguete City yesterday urged the electorate to avail of the last day of registration of voters today amid the expected last hour rush.

City Election Officer Gildo Agoncillo said they should come early as priority numbers will be handed out, and only 250 voters per computer can be accommodated for the day.

There are four computers that capture the biometrics data of the city's voters and one is solely assigned for verification, he added. moremoremore
