A total of P1.84 million in farm implements and tools were turned over to about 600 farmers and laborers in Isabela, Negros Occidental, yesterday by the municipal government as part of its Support to Agriculture Productivity project with the Department of Agriculture.
Mayor Enrique Montilla III, in his message read by administrative officer Lenny Iturriaga-Schults, said the equipment are part of the municipality's agricultural and sustainable program towards poverty alleviation.
The DA gave P1.6 million while the municipality gave its P240,000 share, and some of the tools provided were carabao drawn harrows, plows, sprayers, spades, scythes, hoes and knapsacks, she said.
The turn-over of equipment and recognition of farmers were part of Isabela's second day celebration of its Panubli-on festival.*Karla Panganiban
