Bi-centennial school
building construction on

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the two-storey, 10-classroom building that will house grades 4 and 5 pupils of Saint Louis School-Don Bosco Dumaguete was held Tuesday, in time for the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a press release from organizers said.

The project is to celebrate the bicentenary birth of St. John Bosco, who has a very strong devotion to the Blessed Mother. Construction on the bi-centennial site began late July, the press release also said.

It is now in the columnar stage, with heavy reinforcing bars and scaffoldings scattered around the former soccer field, and construction is expected to last about eight months, architect Ned Carlos, construction manager of the project, said.

He added they are looking at an early 2016 completion.

The design for the project, in consultation with the Team Salesiano and St. Louis School Don Bosco community, includes an enlarged corridor, ramp for the students' trolleys, sun louvers and 10 classrooms, Carlos added in the press release.*
