Ma gets life term for drugs

A mother was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for the sale of shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P200, and an additional 17 years for possession of the illegal substance.

Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier sentenced Susan Agsam to life imprisonment for the sale of 0.02 gram of shabu in a police buy-bust operation in Purok Avocado, Barangay 20, Bacolod City, in April 2012.

She was also fined P500,000.

Agsam was also sentenced to 12 to 17 years imprisonment and fined P300,000 for possession of a sachet of shabu.

Agsam used denial and frame-up as defense. She said she was framed because her child refused to name a “big fish” to the cops but the court said the categorical statements of prosecution were strong and that the defense was not able to prove their position, ABS-CBN reported.*
