Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that he is disappointed that the Nationalist People's Coalition appears to be getting the run-around on its nomination of Angelito Colmenares as board member of the fifth district of Negros Occidental.
The NPC had nominated Colmenares to replace slain board member Renato Malabor on the provincial board.
“We are not asking for a favor, the law provides that the NPC has the right to fill the vacant position left by the late board member Malabor,” Lacson said.
Lacson said they had been following the trail of Colmenares' documents from the provincial, regional to national offices of the DILG.
The office of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas returned the documents to the office of Undersecretary Austere Panadero, claiming it did not need the signature of the secretary, he said.
Lacson said he expected the documents to be forwarded by Panadero's office to Malacañang for final approval but yesterday, he learned that they were returned to the Office of the Secretary.
Lacson said he does not understand why the documents were going back and forth between the offices of Roxas and Panadero.
He has asked the help of DILG provincial head, Joy Madayag, to follow up the documents of Colmenares, Lacson said.*CPG
