Eleven candidates will be vying for the MassKara Queen 2015 title at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on October 12.
They are Aniara Faduhilao, Sam Gergiana Yu, Ronilyn Baloco, Chin Chin Golez, Ivy Benedicto, Mae Alyn Marzan, Jennifer Agudelo, Mae Lourine Mercado, Rezel Esporas, Janelle Pauline Teo and Kennyveb Casabuena.
The swimwear and press presentation will be held on September 19 at Palmas Del Mar, talent night at SM City Bacolod on October 3, festival costume competition at Robinsons Place Bacolod on October 8, and pageant and coronation night at SMX Convention Center on October 12.
MassKara Queen coordinator Chari Ginete-Ilon yesterday said there were officially 12 candidates who were chosen but one of them failed to show up during two major activities they were required to attend, so she was disqualified.
Ilon said the candidates have chosen their own advocacies.
The first four candidates presented yesterday during a press conference were Faduhilao, Yu, Baloco and Golez, whose advocacies are the Negros Forest Ecological Foundation, Busog Lusog Talino School Feeding Program, children with disability, and the Bacolod Boys Home Foundation, respectively.
Faduhilao, 18, is a sophomore student of La Consolacion College taking up Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, while Yu, 20, is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics at the University of St. La Salle (cum laude).
Baloco, 21, is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in management Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Business Economics, while Golez, 19, is a senior student of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos taking up BS Business Administration, major in Marketing management.
Ilon said the MassKara Queen 2015 pageant director is Edu Pillora.
Meanwhile, the Kasadya Bacolod Development Foundation Inc. is launching a MassKaraffle where the proceeds will go to beneficiaries like the Bacolod City Police Office.
Rutha Rojo, MassKaraffle coordinator, said the raffle ticket will cost P100 while prizes at stake are P50,000 for the first prize, P30,000 - second prize, P20,000 – third prize, 10 consolation prizes at P2,000 each, and gift checks.
Festival director Rhoderick Samonte said they will have a final conference with representatives from the City Mayor's Office, Department of Public Services, BCPO, Bacolod Traffic Authority and other stakeholders regarding the regulation of vendors during the MassKara Festival.
On the other hand, Aron Benedict Animay, kiosks coordinator, said they will put up a “food and drinks village” along Araneta Street from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. September 26 to October 20.
Animay said there will be 60 kiosks open for concessionaires aside from another 20 kiosks for dry goods.
There will also be 20 kiosks at the MassKara Land area from 19 th Street up to B.S. Aquino Drive (Ramos) from October 15 to 19, aside from another 53 kiosks from 18th to 3rd streets, he said.*CGS
