Isabela showcases agriculture
BY KARLA PANGANIBAN

To show the abundance of the agricultural industry in Isabela, Negros Occidental, a colorful parade of 27 carabaos and products of farmers' associations, barangays and agencies were showcased in the town Wednesday, Mayor Enrique Montilla III said yesterday.

The carabaos, vegetables and crops used in the parade are the sources of income of the residents and farmers, he said.

Not only the farmers' associations, but even barangays and agencies have programs in Isabela to improve organic productivity and help alleviate poverty, he said.

Winners in the parade were Isabela West Elementary School - 1st place with P8,000, Isabela Day Care Center – 2nd place with P5,000 and Municipal Department of Social Welfare and Development – 3rd place with P3,000, he added.

The parade was part of the 2 nd Panubli-on festival of the municipality during which Montilla pointed out that the perseverance of farmers and workers are part of their emulation of the life of their patron saint, San Nicholas de Tolentino.*KDP
